Thing Love: Modern Himmeli by HRUSKAA

As much as I like to lust after things I don't have, I also love the things we own, especially those purchased since our move from Den Haag to Amsterdam; in going from fully furnished to completely unfurnished, we were able to start with an empty living space and fill it with thoughtfully curated items that would make someone else's house feel like home.

One of my favorite adornments is this hanging planter from HRUSKAA, a Michigan-based shop from which beautifully simple things come, straight from the inspired hands of a terrifically talented lass. Many of them are modern takes on himmeli, a Finnish decoration traditionally made of rye straw hung for a bountiful harvest, and also at Christmas.

It spins mesmerizingly, catches sunlight (when we have it), and is the perfect vessel for a low-maintenance succulent: minimalist, clean, inspired. Go spend a little dough in Melissa's Etsy shop; unless you hate awesome, you'll be delighted.
